I have known of Virginia Wigmore since the first time I heard her single "Black Sheep." My mother played the song quite a few times around the time of it's release and I thought it was interesting. I was intrigued by the sound of her voice at the time because of it's unique, expressive quality and the old Western feel that came along with it. For a period of time, I sort of forgot about Gin until I heard "Black Sheep" on season two of one of my favorite shows, Teen Wolf. I began listening to her music again. I've grown much fonder of the passion that Gin puts into her lyrics and the captivating structure of her music since I first listened to her. Just a few months ago she released her third studio album titled, "Blood to Bone." I was anticipating the release of this album because Wigmore seems to get better and better with every release. I was in love with every track. My favorite song, and the reason for this blog post, is the last track on the album titled, "I Will Love You." The raw beauty of this song is what first caught my attention. There is hardly any editing done to this song at all. It gives the impression of a live recording. The piano part is even simple, because it is just basic chord progressions played repeatedly throughout. The lyrics are astonishing and full of mysterious meaning as well. I feel that this song was the perfect way to end such a stellar album and really show how unique her voice truly is. I would recommend giving it a listen ( by clicking the album artwork) as well as her entire album. I'm looking forward to her next beautiful creation.
