"Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)" - AURORA

Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)
I first heard Aurora Aksnes while listening to music with my father one Saturday afternoon in late August. Sometimes, he and I watch music videos on YouTube together on our TV when we get the chance. We stumbled across a video labeled, "AURORA - Murder Song (5,4,3,2,1)." I had to give it a listen because of it's intriguing title. When I watched the music video I was completely captivated throughout the entire song. Although the video is quite uneventful, it holds a very powerful essence and helps bring even more meaning into her powerful lyrics. I loved the dissonance in the music along with its simple chords that manage to hold so much power. I made my very melancholy interpretation of the song as soon as it ended, and if you haven't heard it, believe me, it's really sad. There's almost a sense of bitter-sweetness to the message she conveys throughout the entire track. The version I first heard was actually the acoustic version of this song (Which you can view by clicking on the album artwork), but I feel that it being stripped down to nothing but an acoustic guitar makes the song even more powerful. I then began to search deeper into the internet to see what other remarkable creations this young woman has crafted. I found that she has released an EP called, "Running With The Wolves." My favorite songs on the EP are Runaway and Running With The Wolves. Of course, all the tracks are quite magnificent to my ears. If you haven't already heard of her, here's a link to her website (AURORA). She's about to put out her first, full-length album and I can't describe how truly excited I am to hear more wonderful creations by this stunning artist.
